As it is used in a hospital setting where information may be sensitive, Healthspring has data privacy as a top priority.

Encrypted network transmission
Healthspring data transmission over the wireless network is protected against unauthorised interceptions with SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. This security protocol is widely used by banking and online shopping websites, as it provides a very high level of security.
Any Healthspring transmissions unlawfully intercepted are fully encrypted and cannot be read.
Username and password access
Only authorised users can log into Healthspring, using individual passwords which are authenticated at the server end.
Timeout
As a security feature, Healthspring is protected against theft of the handheld device, by a system timeout. After a specified period of inactivity (eg 10 minutes), the system displays the login screen. On logging in with their password, the clinician can resume their previous activity.
No patient data stored on handheld
No patient data is stored on the handheld device — it is all stored on the server. In the event the handheld device is stolen, no private data can be found on it.
